Yes there is a sheep lick or a high energy lick or a rumenco protein lick.

If you google rumenco you will find a list of products and they may have a list of local suppliers. Failing that if you find the product that you want your local feed merchant may be able to order it in although they may not normally stock it. There is a special 4 in 1 ram bucket if you were looking for something specifically for rams but its usually given in the 6 week lead up to tupping

The lifeline twin lamb bucket is the one with high levels of calcium that the rams shouldnt have but this tends to be used a few weeks before and after lambing when the ewes would more commonly be seperate from the rams.

I am guessing you have them all together?

Countrywide would have some .... it would only be the lifeline or ewe and lamb bucket which wouldn't be good for rams and other should be fine.

Rumenco told me that Lifeline is safe for male sheep.  It's the phosphorous and magnesium content that causes calculi problems in males, not the calcium content.  Last time I looked Lifeline contains no phosphorous and a little magnesium (but less than some other feed licks).

Gunnermark - what do you want the lick for?  Do you want it to provide minerals or do you want it to provide energy?

I suppose a little of both really, I am currently running my ram with a few small ewe lambs while I have separated the in lamb ewes who I can put a lick out for them. I was just thinking about another lick for the ewe lambs but was worried about the ram having access to the bucket so I have held off for fear of him having access to something he shouldn't.

Thank you to all have provided me with answers!!

Isn't there a danger that he's get them pregnant? He may indeed have had access to something he shouldn't  :o

Never had an issue with lambs being tupped, the 2 that he ran with this time last year are due end of Jan beginning of feb and those he is in with are smaller. I have no worries as he hasn't shown any interest in them at all, and that's not because he has tupped them he hasn't marked them. Once all the other ewes lamb the ram will go back in with them.
