Really bad smell
« on: April 22, 2010, 07:10:19 am »
ONe of my older girls has ceased to lay recently (having laid a few very dodgy shaped eggs last month!)

last night when I shut them in I opened the door to one of my coops to do head count and an awful smell hit me. its coming from 'chicken korma' and smells of rotten prawns. its simlar to when one of my white stars had a respiratory infection that cleared with citrocidal so will try some of that in korma's water but she doesn't seem to have the slimy beak or snoring ...

any ideas at all would be gratefully received!!

just been out to have a feel of her crop. all feels normal and she laid an egg! its the most normal looking one we've had for a while. maybe she's cleared herself out a bit.
I've put a ban on the chooks having any treats for a while, they can stick to pellets, corn (afternoon only!) and water with ac vinegar for now.
am airing the spare coop just in case but it looks like I was being over anxious (dopey mare!!)
