Stock proof fencing North Yorkshire

Hi all!

Very new to all this so apologies if this is old news/wrong place etc...

Last year we moved into a new house with an attached 3 acre paddock with plans to rear pigs/lambs and possibly cattle for meat.  It's taken us a while to sort things but we're now looking into getting the paddock ready for livestock.

There are sections of the fencing in need of repair/replacement and we think it's probably best to initially get this done by someone who knows what they're doing while we develop our skills lest we find our sheep etc escaping!  Is there a recommended person out there who we could contact for help? I've tried a few companies but they seem less than interested, perhaps because it's not a big job and therefore not worth it?

We're based in Selby, SE of York. Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Justine

There's a facebook group "North Yorkshire Agricultural Buy and Sell" that you could join and maybe put a post on asking if anyone knows a fencing contractor?

Or ask around your local farmers if they know of anyone?

Hi Justine,

I'm about half an hour away from you. Im sure our guy would be interested in the work. PM me if you want his number.
Im' guessing that you are going for post and stock netting with tension wires. Barbed is usually recommended for cattle as they dont respect the smooth and reach over it / damage it.

If you are having pigs then a strip of electric is useful around the inside of the netting.
