I think the SNP have shown a better understanding of rural issues than the other parties and their policies are quite "green". I would have considered Lib Dem had they not refused to support a referendum on self-determination, which seems to me neither liberal nor democratic. I'm not saying I would or wouldn't support independence, but it would be nice to be asked.

I think the right to vote is important for anybody men or women. Though I agree thats it been longer fight for women in the UK.

I go through stages of thinking of just ruining my vote to lodge complaint or not voting at all in order to make a point - but lets face it - not voting makes no change.  You have to vote, no matter how irrelevant you think your vote maybe.

Myself? I am still not sure this time.  As a strategic voter in the past I have always voted Labour as it makes it less likely for the tories to get in.

This year I think its the same - although as a high earner, land owner, employer and no kids I would certainly be better off under the 'utopia' that the tories seem offer, after all I am 'big business'.  But I know for sure that the people on the ground of this country would be better off being 'left' of the tories and although LD seem to be climbing Labout again is the best bet.

Dan reckons there shoudl be a box on the voting paper "None of the above", which would allow people to express disatisfaction with all candidates without having to spoil the paper or not vote at all.

IMO anyone who does not vote is voting for anarchy - and I for one am not one of the strongest or fittest and would therefore be shot at dawn by those that are.  How can anybody hope to achieve change by not voting and how can you complain about anything if you dont vote.

Its a shitty system but we are stuck with it.

I dont know who to vote for this time, they all seem to be as bad as each other although lib dems came across well on the tv debate. Last night we had dinner with my father in law who is a property developer and has a larger property portfolio across bristol and bath. He has been told by Barclays bank that if any other party other than conservatives get in they will be recalling the loans that he has taken out and he will have a month to repay £800,000. If conservatives get in they will not recall the loans. (He has very different arrangements with preferential rates with this bank that us other mere mortals couldnt get!). He has stopped developing for the last few months although has kept on all of the tradesmen that work for him full time and has kept paying them even though they are not doing much work at the moment. He said last night that if conservatives dont get in he will have to make them all redundant and as they all have families this is going to be a pretty awful thing to do. as he will no longer be able to get the loan rates he has been able to have up to now and so no longer will be able to do the big development projects . He has warned them that they maybe facing losing their jobs and they all look at him wide eyed with the question why?  He was a very upset man last night due to the fact that he may have to put all of these men out of work and so for that reason I guess I will be voting conservative.

That is deplorable.  So the conservatives can only win if the banks resort to blackmail???  I think I would have a word with someone higher up.  Banking ombudsman maybe.

I read in this mornings newspaper that if the flying ban is not lifted by 7pm. today the government have hinted that they shall send in the Royal Navy to help bring stranded people home. Now, I thought the armed forces were stretched to their resourceful and financial limits? Is this a ploy for Mr B to get some more votes from those he rescues? Vote for me and you may board this ship!

Of course it is James People keep telling me how much these wars cost us.What ever cost me It's not true,the only thing it is costing is some poor chaps life that in my opinion should not be there anyway.The men and women that are there are being paid any way the machinery is there So lets go and have a pretend war I think it's called an Exercise and pop a few off Now this Afgan thing(not dogs Annie  the other sort) must have used up tons of munitions we are holding.So some people are gainfully employed moving this stuff about aren't they?

Wow. And there's David Cameron teling us to choose hope over fear. Kind of ironic if his henchmen are threatening businessmen like that. Do you honestly believe that a bank would / could do that? They'd be cutting their own throats - they exist by lending money. Calling in laons to sound companies just doesn't make business sense never mind being immoral (not that immorality ever bothered the banks).

Scare tactics - and the Tories accuce Labour of it.

Last week's debate and the outcome certainly seems to have scared the sh1t out of the two "main" parties and has added a whole new dimension. They obvioulsy didn't even consider the Lib Dems and they have no plan on how to deal with this upsurge in popularity. Now they're trying to scare us with a hung parliament. Almost every other country in Europe manages to work with coalitions, so why can't we? It's not like the current system is that great.

The Scottish Parliament  has a minority administration and I think, in some respects, it makes for more balanced government.

It has been hinted at this morning that the Government may possibly declare a state of emergency due to this no fly ban, therefore postponing the election.
