Broody hen sitting but not laying?

I have a trio of silver laced wynadotte, one hen just sits in the nesting box as if broody and yet has not laid an egg in about a week? Is there something wrong or will she just get over this eventually?

Don't worry Rob, when they are broody they don't lay eggs.

Make sure she's not being bullied and is 'hiding' in the nest box.

mine never lay once they go broody - i don't know but i always assumed its so that they don't add new eggs to an existing clutch so that they all hatch together, so there's like a switch in their body that tells them to stop laying and start incubating....but lots of people on here that know a lot more than i do and might be able to give a better answer!  I have a very persistant broody who took over 2 months to break last summer, we tried everything but she was determined to stay broody - this year she has gone broody about 3 months earlier and so we are letting her sit on some eggs as we decided it's a lot less hassle to look after some chicks than deal with her for god knows how many months!!!!

Sorry no more eggs now if she is broody.  They lay a clutch, which probably you have been collecting daily.  She would have sat on those if you left them.  You can either put some eggs under her now to hatch, or try and stop her being broody.  I spend most of the summer with clucking, broody bantams and silkies.  Just two banties broody up to now, but I the others will follow soon!!
