Hmmm that's an interesting one MF. Anything I would be able to see on her? Also would we not expect the Anti-Biotics to have cleared that up or at least taken it down to relieve the symptoms? Not something I've dealt with before.

No outward signs, alas.  Abscesses tend to get "walled in" and so hard for antibiotics to be effective.  We once had this with a bought in weaner when she was about a month off finishing and the symptoms sound similar.  We ended up getting the knackerman in for a quick, stress-free end.

I see. I might give my vet a call and discuss it with her. Thanks for the heads up!

Hello,

Just to let everyone know, we are starting to make progress! We now leave the pig propped up on her belly all day and she can push herself up on her front legs. I was worried that the back legs weren't going to come back into use BUT as of this morning she is pushing off them! At the moment it is more forwards than upwards but I am encouraged.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice

Excellent news
Our holding has Anglo Nubian and British Toggenburg goats, Gotland sheep, Franconian Geese, Blue Swedish ducks, a whole load of mongrel hens and two semi-feral children.

Awww am really sorry to hear about your pig, you're doing a great job and it sounds like there is a big chance she will make a good recovery.  :)

Hello Everyone

Just wanted to (hopefully) show you this picture of little pig standing up to eat her breakfast. She has been doing this for a few days now. She can get up on her own from her belly and walk around with your legs to stop her wobbling over! She just cant roll up onto her belly from her side yet but she is trying very hard!

Ignore the white patch its just some cream because she was getting sore.

So much thanks to everyone who shared their experience, I really think I would have given up on her in the first few days if I hadn't had that.

  :fc: for a full recovery.
