I guess it would depend on the heifers. At three years old, are they in calf or had a calf? Most folk I know calve at two years - they can get fat and harder to get in calf older (at least that's the thinking behind it). Are they from a tested herd that's tested free from TB, BVD, Johnes, IBR, Lepto?

Rough guide:

Cow with steer calf at foot - £1150 - more if cow is 'special' - good genetics, different colouration, already a hand milker...

Individually the prices would be Cow around £850 - more if special as above.  Steer calf at weaning around £450.

Around £550-£700 - would need to be a bit different for the top end - ie  good genetics, different colouration, good temperment etc.

If in calf, add £50-£100 to above.

Guideline prices only - last time Steve talked to Paddy about pricing here in N Scotland was tail end of 2014. She will know what the market's like in Scotland currently for Shetland cattle - if you were thinking of different pricing, maybe have a chat with her - before she disappears off to Aus again.
