I've had my weaners a month now and during the hard frost they started toileting in their Arc. How do I stop them doing this now as it seems they've got into the habit. Any ideas? Thanks

Hmm, think I'd take the poo out leave it near the arc and put clean straw in, maybe they'll get the idea?

I will give it a go it's a real pain they've started doing this they were really clean when they came and I've made sure I've cleaned out regularly. Seems they didn't like the cold!

You may already have tried this, but I was advised to limit the area in the ark available to young pigs - obviously as they get bigger you increase the floor area available to them. The idea being that the pigs wouldn't want to toilet where they actually sleep, if you give them too big an area then they have an inbuilt sleeping area and toileting area without having to go outside in the cold. We managed this by stacking up bales of straw around the edges of the ark which also served as extra insulation, but others have used temporary wooden sides which can be taken down as they grow. Thanks that is a brilliant idea! You're right they don't go where they sleep only the other side of the Arc. Cheers will give it a go.

Our most recent litter are not as clean as they should be and I've followed Willowtree's tip with good results - recommend it to anyone.

Yes it's a very good tip mine look cosier too and you don't need so much bedding. Win all round really.
