geting incubator ready for tomorrow.

tomorrow we are looking forward to trying for the first time in
hatching eggs. ;D
they are a hybrid called lohman brown crossed with a wellsummer cockerl.
only down thing is we thought we bought a automatic turner, well we havent!
so its gona be crosses and circles! :chook:

Good luck, Lohman Browns are fantastic layers I have had them for a few years now.

wow you are the only person i have come across that has got them, on line and off!
i thought we had an goverment project breed or something!
have you ever hatched any eggs before and if so when you need to leave them in the incubator
to dry off what about food and water for that 24 hrs. :chook:

nothing. do not feed or water[/b] you will kill them if you feed them in the first day. just leave them alone for the first day. then chick crumb and water. make sure you have a spare heat light around.

Just before they hatch, they eat up the last of the egg, and that keeps them going, so don't worry for the first day.  After that you will soon see what appetites they have for chick crumbs!!

Leave them in the incubator till their feathers are dried and them put them into a brooder, can be just a large box with a heat lamp above. If they huddle under the lamp they are cold ,if they go to the edges of the box they are too warm so higher and lower accordingly.After 24 hrs they need a proper chick water container as they can get into a saucer even and die trying to get out and chick crumbs to eat. Which incubator did you decide on? Does it have a humidity control?
