lamb with watery yellow poo
« on: May 22, 2015, 07:33:59 pm »
Noticed today - thin watery bright yellow poo coming out of 2 week old Soay lamb (it's not sticky so bum doesn't really look dirty). Otherwise lambie is bright and feeding and running around.
I think that's too old for the 'normal' sticky yellow lamb poo - it's been through that phase already (and it doesn;t look like that anyway)
So I think I should be concerned. Grateful if you can point me to possible causes!

2 weeks is too young to be worms really, as it isn't going to be eating grass etc much. Could be cocci I guess, but also a bit young. Maybe some kind of eccoli infection?  Anything dodgy about the ewe? I'd be inclined to give her a shot of an LA antibiotic, maybe a pump of spectam to. Hard to tell without looking. One option would be an FEC I guess.

Thanks PL for the pointers.
So you would treat the ewe rather than the lamb?
