Puffing goat!
« on: May 01, 2015, 09:33:58 pm »
Mac, who is now just a year old sounds a bit wheezy, he is definately a bit chubby but I have noticed that after running up the field he sounds very out of breath, he isn't sneezing or coughing and runs around ok. Do you think that he could just be a bit overweight. They all were for a while over the winter but the 2 girls are looking ok now as they are out all day.

I would just completely remove any concentrate from his diet - he is not a working male and has done most of his growing by now, just grass outside and hay in the evening (or when inside during bad weather) and monitor his weight a bit. BUT - yes rule out(lung) worms maybe, though he wouldn't be fat if that were the cause.

He is just getting a tiny handful of concentrates a day but I will remove them completely, just had Fec done and whilst they were not completely clear they were below the level recommended for dosing. I
