I am new to sheep and I have just lost a sheep to Fluke. my others are doing alright says the vet.
I wormed and fluked them when I found out, when is the next time I should do them as it says not every month but around about once a year is this correct?

I treat mine for fluke twice a year, in spring and then in the autumn, my grazing is by a river and therefore they are at more risk.
I have a worm count done once a year just to be sure

Just a quickie ..... make sure you treat for adult AND immature fluke as some only do adult!!!

Same as Daisy's mum, we treat twice a year, once in spring and once in autumn. Sorry to hear you lost one, if you're not used to Fluke, it can get really bad before you even know about it. We nearly lost a goat to it a few years back, not long after we moved here, we didn't realise it was a fluke area. We were quick enough to save her, but it was very nearly a different story. Your other sheep should be fine, I would probably dose them again in April time just to be on the safe side.

Thank you for the times of year. Can I give pregnant Ewes the same treatment as the rest or do I have to alter the dosage given? The other affected one still has pale gums but after some anti-biotic from the vet she is doing a lot better, she seems to be bouncy.

Depends what you use.....I use Valbazin which is a wormer AND flukicide but not on ewes newly served....read instructions! ewes in late pregnancy ok!......
