Have you heard? There's been a murder!

How could someone who suposedly loves dogs do such a thing?!

I hope they catch whoever did it.

Me too. Desperately sorry for the dog and its owners. They must be gutted.

Shocking! On Facebook, I have also seen a photo of a man caught beating his dog at Crufts.  I hope they get him...

Oh, I wondered if it could be that. I went out of the room for a minute and when I came back in my 13 yr old was cross because she said the handler had lifted the dog down holding its tail and a hand around the front of the dog.

Didn't actually see it.  Is that an accepted way of handling the breed I wonder? I think I've seen 'terrier' people lifting dogs like that. Know nothing about them. Doesn't seem right but is there a reason?

It's against KC rules to handle that way, she should of been disqualified in my opinion, she had apparantly been told a number of times...the judge was apparantly chairman when the KC rule was implemented!  ::)

The KC is totally corrupt, it doesn't surprise me they didn't disqualify her! The KC should be totally turned on its head and have all its rules reviewed, especially the breed standards that cause suffering to so many breeds, like the brachycephalic (short nosed) breeds and the poor german shepherds and their wonky hips :(

Having said all of that I do enjoy seeing the dogs, just wish the whole system behind it all was better!

I saw it happen but it was so quick that I thought I hadn't seen it properly. If she had been told about it previously then, I agree, she should have been disqualified.
On a lighter side, I have threatened Archie, that if he isn't a good boy I will make him look like the minature poodle that got through to the finals. He hates being pampered  :roflanim:

I was horrified to see her lift that wee dog by his tail. to hear she had been warned about it and still goes onto win is a farce. Why have rules if you are not going to carry them out.

A rule is a rule and should be applied.

However, as to the offending act, she didn't just lift by it's tail she supported the front end too and the dog didn't object. Is that because it is trained not to or it is used to it?

I have just signed a petition against it on facebook. apparently she was warned several times at crufts not to do it but in america (where she is from) its common practice.

Reading all your posts about the mishandling of the winner...  >:(

Too late now for this year, but they should swiftly now make it clear that such handling will not be tolerated and will mean instant disqualification and rescinding of any and all trophies won at that meet at next and subsequent Crufts, and any other dog show run by the KC, even if it is after presentation of Best in Show.

Or possibly, a yellow card/red card system, like they have in football.  Second yellow = red.  Red card means instant disqualification and rescinding of any and all trophies won at that meet.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing
