Made my decision !

thanks all for your input - Im currently in talks re some nice shetlands from foula isle :D

Wow!  You've found a source of socialised Foula Shetlands then?  We'll all be queuing up for some;
Foula Shetland is supposed to be very special fleece :spin: :knit: - I haven't handled any myself, mind.

Tell us more as you get further along !  Please !  And pics, of course, when you get to that point  :eyelashes:

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Ooh Foula Shetlands - excellent  :thumbsup:

We were hands-on with a flock when we were up in Shetland a while ago - all sorts of colours, double fleece, much more primitive looking than modern Shetlands, which have improved, wool only fleece.

As soon as you get them, pics please  ;D

hehe well i hope my fences will be ok, i breed shetlands ponies so set up for them and have a few friends up there now, so very excited to be getting another native island breed :D Id read the fleece is pretty special and my mind is already working overtime with the possibilities.. not that i knit myself  :-\

I'm sure you'll no be short of outstretched hands for the fleeces!  But it's not difficult to learn to :spin: and :knit: y'know...  :eyelashes:

haha so Im told..  i tried very unsuccessfully a number of years ago but i may be more motivated with my own ‘special’ wool :D

Great choice you will never regret it. Shetlands woohooo.
Shetland sheep, Castlemilk Moorits sheep, Hebridean sheep, Scots Grey Bantams, Scots Dumpy Bantams. Shetland Ducks.
