shetland ewe and 2 lambs for sale, Dundee *offers*
« on: October 03, 2014, 08:01:31 am »
Due to a change of plan with my grazing I want to sell my Shetland ewe. She had shetland two male lambs this year, both are castrated and well grown.

The lambs may be ready for slaughter but I'm not sure of their weight. OPEN TO OFFERS.
I'd like £150 for the three, or £60 each if sold individually.

Collection only,  thanks.

Have a look at the average prices at the recent Lanark/Carlisle/York sales - you may find that the price you are asking is a touch too high... even if the ewe is registered.

The lambs may be about 30kgs liveweight max, but that would be a very good finishing of twin lambs..., so deadweight would be in the region of 15kgs of meat. Most Shetlands are taken for meat at 18 months or thereabouts, and the meat is then really good.

Hi, I was basing the price on what I was quoted when first buying. What would be more reasonable, do you think? I'd prefer if they all went away together.

I don't know if they were registered as I was never planning to breed. I just know that two are fawn katmoget and one is brown katmoget.

Hi Pauline - in the past Ive tried to sell my pedigree shetland lambs on forums and by local adverts in feed shops etc. However, having only one successful sale using these methods, I now sell my lambs (coloured and white) through our local mart. I consistantly get good price. Are there any marts local to you? If you want a quick sale this might be your best option.

The nearest mart would be Forfar and then Stirling or Thainstone.
