It IS fabulous. It has been very well looked after. The property was originally part of the Panmure Estate. The house was built about 1860, we have been told, with a later, but not recent extension. It's not huge and there are some changes we will want to make. The building on the left has garage, workshop, two looseboxes, a byre and cartshed. So never mind room for a pony, room for a cow!! On the right is the tractor shed, bothy and laundry, plus a potting shed. In the middle is a walled garden with greenhouse and shed. The Dutch barn is opensided.
The shelter belts are beautiful and have apple trees in them; there is soft fruit planted in various areas of the shrubbery and there is the most stunning arboreal ivy, which is just moving with wiildlife. The current owners have planted lots of beautiful specimen trees.
Top right is the two acre field; on the right is the 5 acre field then the four paddocks. The house faces pretty much south.
Just to the bottom of the photo is the railway line from Dundee to Aberdeen and Barry Links rail halt. Panmure Golf Club is next door - Carnoustie has four golf courses including the championship one. The British Senior Open is there next year and the British Women's OPen in 2011. I was told that the Commonwealth Games shooting is at Barry Buddon Army range which is next door too - we'll get used to the gun fire, I'm sure.
We went to see it at the end of October and I've been fantasising about it since. Now the realistic planning has to start! Like where to put the vegetable garden, for a start.
