Marsh Daisy Group, Facebook

Hi, I have started a Marsh Daisy Facebook group. I hope it will be as beneficial to the breed as the Scots Grey group has been

It's a difficult time for the breed, important breeders are giving up either through retirement or giving up the breed for others. The breed isn't easy- they don't breed true and commitment is needed from breeders to be ruthless in selecting birds to effectively breed wheatens and browns as misinterpretation of the breed standards means these colours have been run together. A lot of eBay sellers know this and are still selling the eggs. These birds are not the best layers, are slow to develop and not large but they are quite savvy, pretty, hardy and cheap to feed.

I hope the FB group will bring out some breeders who may have been put off or discouraged in the past. I hope to keep the group free of snark and that members can provide constructive criticism of birds.

the scots grey facebook page was excellent - i got offered a small local flock within 12hrs of enquiring - and i have travelled 100's of miles before for birds! i was very impressed.
we used to have marsh daisies, lovely little birds, and very tasty to eat aswell.

Thanks :) the scots grey group has been great and has benefitted the breed club as well I would think. The MDs don't have a breed club and come under the umbrella of the Rare Poultry Society.
