Dogs Home Fire
« on: September 12, 2014, 12:43:40 am »
Manchester Dogs Home has burnt down tonight, killing a lot of the dogs.  Appears it was deliberate.  How sick are some people?  Well done to the two brave men who ran in and kicked the kennel doors in, managing to save some of the dogs.  I believe all are safe and being taken to other shelters tonight.  I hope the culprit gets punished .......things like this really make me mad.

If it was deliberate then the people responsible should be put to sleep__ or locked in a room with half a dozen TASers >:( >:( >:(

Whatever would anyone hope to achieve by burning so many dogs to death?  Oh it's absolutely horrible to think of that  :furious: :furious: :furious:   Just when I start to believe people aren't so very bad, then this happens - WHY?

It was a 14 year old boy apparently, and he has been arrested. Nothing will happen to him at that age, however. Last I heard 49 dogs had been killed, and over 150 saved. Chester Dogs Home have taken them in and are keen for donations of food and large dog bowls if anyone is in that neck of the woods, and there is also a Just a Giving page.

What goes through a 14 year old mind to cause so much pain to a animal who cannot escape. I will never  understand this world. Poor wee doggies.

I've donated on Justgiving - death toll over 60 now. So sad.  If he was my grandson I'd be so mortified.  And he wouldn't be able to sit down for a long time!

This child needs care and treatment.  Animals this time will surely escalate to people next time, or the time after that.  Arsonists have a real psychiatric problem and I don't know that they will ever be cured.  I so hope the relevant authorities take his danger to the public seriously.  It would be interesting if further info comes out as to whether he wanted to kill the dogs, or just wanted the thrill ( :tired:) of setting a fire.

very sad indeed, but i also wonder what made the lad do it….kids just don't do things like that, well not your everyday child… i am wondering if there are mental health issues, ..

Doesn't really matter if the lad has mental health problems, at that age he would still know right from wrong.

I notice that the RSPCA are trying to get in on the act, must be galling that donations for the Manchester Dogs home have topped £750,000 and their cash receipts are falling.

i expect the RSPCA will want some of the money then "in expenses" or something?
i was on shift in a eldery care home and some kids set it on fire. not funny in any situation. we couldnt evacuate one lady so she could have been killed. thank god for the fire brigade.

Just saw on the news the fund has reached £1million.  There's a lot of dog lovers in the UK!

While I agree with everyone that it was appalling and how the dogs must have felt knowing that there was a fire doesn't bear thinking about, I can't help wondering if that much would have been raised if it had been, say, a care home that had burned down.
