WOo hoo! I've found one!
« on: October 24, 2009, 08:37:32 am »
I have finally found a billy goat gruff!

An Anglo Nubian, aged 5, comes with 3 year old nanny. Located in Kelty, Fife.
Going to pick them up this week.

Beth, thank you for your help. These came via an ad in our local paper, but thank you!

Well done you  ;D
Now you'll need to get building a bridge for them to trip trap, trip trap across  ;)
You'll have to post a photo once they've settled in.

I'm adding them to my collection of 4 nannies, 2 goatlings, and 3 kids! Plus my "seedless" billy!!
I will post a pic when they join my herd!

I picked up my billy, and his girlfriend, yesterday.

Thankfully the weather was decent and the goats just went to sleep in the trailor. A total of 340 miles to Keltie, to get a billy, just shows you how few there are.

Goodness that was a long journey!!  I thought we were mad going up to Newcastle, a 200 mile round trip, to bring back a pygmy billy and two nannies!!!  My OH is still grumbling about the amount of fuel!!

Ukag0972,

Did they let you know anything about their breeding at all? I' just curious as used to live quite local to there.

Unfortunately it was a "caretaker" who was there. She knew nothing about anything. They were in, what was a farm park place, behind the Baxters place!
There was loads of golden guernseys, angoras, toggenburgs and pygmys. They also had various breeds of sheep.
The owner is in Switzerland working and pays a girl to look after the animals, albeit, with little experience or knowledge!!!
Anyway, I have my boy and he STINKS!!!

You get immune to the smell - I have my British Alpine boy, and my pygmy boy, and after not having a billy goat for a few years, I had forgotten just how bad they can be during the breeding season.  Anyway, a few weeks down the line, I  can go into their pens and hardly notice the smell.

Unfortunately, passers by notice, and make comments, and probably I smell of billy goat if I forget to change my jods or top before going to the supermarket, but I am not bothered :D

Ahhh so they are from Kathellen I would think. He may be related to my old male in that case. They borrowed him for stud about 5 years ago.

Post up some pictures soon.

Beth
