Maybe a New dog

As some of you will have read I recently lost 3 of my old dogs and it left me feeling empty even though I do have other dogs.
I have been thinking of getting another dog but kept thinking it's too early. Then today I have been offered an American cocker. 13 months old fully health tested and several wins at shows including best puppy in show
I grew up with English cockers and it was the first dog I went into the ring with in child handler aged 5.
If all goes well when I visit tomorrow she could well be coming home with me and as she is in full show coat I just might get back into the ring  ::)

 :thinking: In a position to get a dog which sounds too good to be true where is the catch/ problem. Sorry, I see so many rehomings too good to be trues which aren't good. She seems to be doing well so why are they rehoming ( not asking for an answer just passing on thoughts for you )

Ask plenty of questions before you agree to take her. I know you know your stuff but would hate to see you make a rash decision when grievance may be shadowing your judgement   :bouquet:

The reason she is being rehomed is because they have too many young dogs in the ring at the moment.her brother being one of them and he has 2 CCs. She isn't advertised and they only contacted me through a mutual friend.they also want a show home for her

I know how hard it is we have had 4 in the ring before and it does get hectic if one class is running late and your in another class with another dog of a different breed but I couldn't part with them.

its sounds great.

i thought id share ...
my pups dam is for sale at the moment and she has been placed at crufts etc but had her maximum number of litters so is retired from breeding. we would really love to have her but her breeders stated no other dogs or children under 10, so big shame or we would have snapped her up. she is very cheap too, to say she is a proper show dog. they also have younger dogs who are in the ring now.

It looks like a king charles cavalier face on a poodle body.

She's beautiful! I love them having met a few, very nice personalities. Good luck with the showing ;D
Old and rare breed Ducks, chickens, geese, sheep, guinea pigs, 3 dogs, 3 cats, husband and chicks brooding in the tv cabinate!

Well Millie has come home with me today for a trial to see if she fits in with us.
So far she has been fantastic. the other dogs have accepted her and she them. at the moment she is stretched out on the sofa  asleep ::)

I also have been showing for xxxxx years  :innocent: and can endorse this.  I let two black tri bitches go at 9 months on the proviso they were shown when my husband died and I felt I couldn't cope. . Unfortunately I lost a cople of old dogs soon after so could have kept them, and again unfortunately the new owners showed them once - won their classes then didn't bother again.  So good for you - get back in the ring Sokel - will look out for you!  My next Champ Show will probably be Darlington provided Allez recoverss well from his operation OK tomorrow

Hope it goes well. My father bought a young bitch in a similar way. Breeders often 'run' a couple of young dogs on and then sell one and concentrate on showing the other.
