Christmas is always expensive for me

Kaitlin's birthday is on Xmas day(I know, I know - terrible timing), so I've 3 lots of kids pressies and 1 lot of birthday pressies to buy
Connor is getting recycled toys from when the girls were babies - luckily I have a HUGE box of them in the loft ! Should manage to do next years too

Rebecca wants an easel and crafty stuff (that's easy enough - I'll just raid my stash) Kaitlin wants a cat

but she's not getting a real one, I've managed to get a 'fur real' kitten for £10 so that when she loses intrest I can put it in the cupboard and not be left having to feed it and protect the cockatiel from it

I suppose I'm quite lucky (or maybe sensible) our kids only ask for 1 or 2 things and they're not usually big or expensive, it's always been that way. They get their stockings with a tangerine and apple wrapped in tin foil, some books, arty stuff, a wee puzzle and a set of pj's or nighty - then their requested pressie and they are happy with that. They get so much stuff from aunties, uncles and both sets of grandparents that they don't know what to play with and end up putting it all away under their beds and forgetting about it - comes in handy during the summer holidays though

The one thing that I want for xmas is time (or breeze blocks to build my kitchen extension

). I just don't have enough of it - 48 hours in a day would suit just fine

That way I could get on and do all the things we want to do, without having to sacrifice the housework or sleep

We try to keep it all quite low key, make a big deal of spending time together and explaining why xmas is important and not all about money and toys - but it does tend to start on the 1st of december. Making decorations, cards and food for the big day, but I love getting the kids involved, because to me Christmas is about spending time with those you hold dear
