Poorly Piglet

One of Joan (of arc)s 8 week old piglets is poorly, very "down" and off her food.

I brought Joan into a stable to dry off and have put this piglet back in with her today whilst I am at work.  It was standing up but is now just huddled and sleeping in the hay.

No real idea what is wrong with it...

It was fine up until 36 hours ago when it seemed slower than the others to grab the food...

Any thoughts?

Have you checked its temp?
Very low or very high it will want antibiotics.
Also consider it might need worming (especially if mum wasn't wormed prior to farrowing)
Is it eating, drinking and doing its business?
Loss of appetite in a pig is a sure sign that something is wrong. Try tempting with a saucer or syringe full of milk, it may just be sick of fighting its siblings to get fed and has given up!
Also i know the weather is quite warm at the moment but we had some piglets in the summer who were actually cold and similar to yours and once we put a heat lamp on them they made a rapid recovery.

She  has a normal temperature.  she DOES need worming, I did worm Joan before she farrowed  but noticed this piglet coughed a worm.  I had ordered Novomectin anyway to do an 8 week worm but it won't arrive for a couple of days.

I think she is drinking okay. :(

Worried about her but she doesn't seem quite at deaths door  :fc:

As soon as I have the Novomectin I'll do her.  I only have the sheep drench and I understand I could give that but it isn't really strong enough

Ah sounds like thats the likely culprit then, poor thing probably has awful tummy ache, can you pop to your vets and get a single jab approx 0.75ml will do for a weaner instead of waiting for yours to come, our vet only charges a quid or so for a single jab.
all the best Mandy :pig:
