Time waster!

Heya guys.
I advertised all of my pedigree large black pigs for sale on preloved, I got a reply and he came to see them and said he would have the lot and that he would pick them up in 10 days time. Over 3 weeks later and he will not answer phone calls, he only answered one text to say he would come yesterday, seeing as I had to go somewhere to pick up some pullets, I said don't come before 3, when I would be back. I then call him a few hours after I get back and he will not answer. I'm going to give him until Sunday, then re-advertise them. :rant: :rant: :rant: The problem is I had someone else who wanted a couple of gilts too and I am very much afraid when I contact him to say they're available he may have found others. It is highly infuriating, because they need to be gone by the end of this month, because I do not have enough space for them all. Does anyone want to buy any pigs? What do you think I should do? Even if the other guy has 2, that means I still have 2 left to sell and they're costing me a lot of money.

I think that as soon as someone doesn't get back to you after you contact them it is fair to assume that they no longer want them and sell to the first comer. With a whole litter like that it would be quite reasonable to ask him to secure them with a deposit, he would have given one if he was genuine. If he then let you down at least the extra feed and such is covered by the deposit.
I'd re-advertise them asap, you kept your word and he isn't answering your calls.

Would turning them into sausages not be the most sensible financial option? (if you don't have any breeders wanting them I mean)

Yes slaughtering the pigs would be good, the problem is because they need to be gone, ideally now, I would have to slaughter the whole lot, thats a lot of pork. Anyhow I'll give him till tomorrow, then I'll contact the other guy and if not then I'll slaughter them.  :(

Actually slaughtering the pigs won't be necessary, he has just rung up to say he'll collect them this evening. :relief:

The reason why he wasn't answering his phone was because he has been busy contacting for other people, because everyone wants to bale at the moment. :innocent:
