TAS server move - forum downtime
« on: June 02, 2014, 11:54:08 am »
Hello all

A heads-up that we are moving the TAS website and forum onto a new web server platform today (or possibly tomorrow). Apart from making the site faster, this will give us room to grow and get on with the long list of new features we're planning to introduce.

We'll try to keep downtime to a minimum. The first thing we'll do immediately before the move is to make the entire forum read only - you'll still be able to access all posts and topics, but won't be able to create new topics or post replies. We'll then move the forum to the new server and open it for new posts.

How soon you are able to access the new server will depend on your ISP and how quickly they update their DNS records for TAS. For most this should be done within an hour, but for some it can take up to 48 hours.

I'll post again once I know the approximate time we'll be doing the move.

Any questions just ask.  :)

Please note that attachments have been disabled temporarily in preparation for the server move. This lets us package up the thousands of attachments we have without having to worry about any new ones getting left behind.  :)

Once the transfer is completed attachments will be re-enabled.

The forum is going read-only in the next few minutes. Transfer will take up to an hour, if you're not on the new server within an hour or two please email dan@tas.re and I may be able to help.

See you on the other side.  :)

Welcome to the new server. If you can see this then your DNS has been updated and you're good to go.
