Last Lamb!
« on: May 04, 2014, 09:22:14 am »
Well, today saw our last lamb born, three weeks after the penultimate lambs. Clearly Spot held out till the last minute!
We have had a real rollercoaster ride, starting with the assisted birth of two dead and putrefying lambs ( mum subsequently died despite treatment), two sets of triplets. Loss of two lambs one very cold night and losing a ewe very suddenly and unexpectedly (i suspect hypocalcaemia but she died too quickly to get a vet to her :(), and a ewe who went dry after a week! This has left us with 5 lambs on the bottle out of 9 total. I guess it was the lambing from hell but we have learned a lot. I'd like to thank the contributors here as TAS was my main source of advice. I didnt post much but lurking here helped a load!

Sounds like you had a pretty hard time of it Clive. It's a real roller coaster ride isn't it.  Hopefully your healthy lambs are helping to make up for the issues you have had.

Sorry your lambing was not a carefree one :bouquet: .  We still have one to lamb (hopefully today) so we are not out of the woods yet! :fc:

It'll be better next year.

We've still got one to go - tomorrow morning, I hope. Her feet are so awful (she's not lame though) they are driving me nuts. Really looking forward to getting them trimmed up. And to the last lamb, of course  :)
