In Our Local Paper

This story in our paper got my attention and I wonder what you all think. 19 year local lad caught speeding at 5pm one evening doing 101 MPH. What did he get, disqualified for 7 weeks and a fine of £225. doess that sound right. >:(

How did they come up with 7 weeks and that small fine I wounder? What I think is wrong, the sentence would have been different if he had been found to be wondering around with a loaded gun!! with a gun he would choose his victim and with a car he would kill anyone who got in the way...I know it's a strange comparison but I get so fed up with people getting off lightly with high speeding fines, at that speed you become a lethal weapon....what sort of deterrant is that???? >:(

I wonder what his mother thought. I bet she would have been happier with him losing his license for a year!

How long had he held his licence?
If its under  year (?!) i think, you can be put back on a provisional and have to re-test.
Thank goodness he didnt hurt anyone

Not a judge or a policeman but a well know business man. Taking into account all the deaths of young people around our area in the last couple of years, driving too fast and without due care, I would have thought they would have thrown his car keys away.

I think it does depend on circumstances eg if they are on benifets etc
