Surgey went well yesterday and I now have to take things easy for the next few days. 2 days into being off work and I am bored useless already. Tomorrow the huge dressing comes off which should make walking a little easier.

All the best, James - you didn't have to cancel your holiday, I hope! That I would take against the birds and the weather!
Peter will follow you soon as the NHS found out after over 3 months after the accident (we can only blame the children for that one ) that he tore a muscle off the bone, nice! It took the physio to figure that out , what does that tell us about the doctors and consultants??
You do have to do smething about that run, James, you can't injure yourself every few months! We keep on spreading sharp sand on a sort of walkway when it is wet, it helps a bit.
enjoy your rest and hope it all goes to plan!  :&> :)

Kerstin the holiday is safe thanks. I checked with the surgeon re flying long haul and he gave me advice and the ok to fly. We will defo be looking at ways to make the duck area safer. Sorry to hear about Peter, I hope he doesn't have long to wait. I do not mean to show off but I have private medical care which means I do not have to wait in the horrendous queues of the NHS. This time though I had to go a hospital in Edinburgh as the one in Dundee was too slow. I was in a lot of pain before hand so wanted the op asap and not have to wait for 6 months or more in agony.

I have torn my Bum muscle 3 x now...after 50 years of a dislocated hip, I had an op and all was great then I was out walking and bashed into an iron bar and could not walk home, had to shuffle and it took me 2 hours...took ages to get over that one, then, my oh was putting a bag full of 8 2 pint milk jugs into the car..I got in the way and it ripped again...ages to get over again...then, I took our dog for a walk and put him on a long lead due to shepp being moved and a boy chatted on a quad and off he went with me in tow, just bruises then, 3 days later I went out with my OH and the dog and he ran into the back of me and I went into orbit, just got ovetr that......so...be warned, I hate the ice, the mud, the leaves and walk like an 80 year old...I am sure I have told this before but I wanted to say once you tear something you must first build up the muscle around to hold the joint secure, I am mad as I was enjoying walking and now have to find safe flat places....the gravel im my garden works well, slip free, they have mud boarders to dig in, no problems and NO SLIPPPPS
