Can anyone source cable drums?
« on: April 27, 2014, 10:23:02 pm »
Hi Everyone.....

I am trying to source some cable drums, various heights/sizes and in the south west area, just finding it very difficult to find any :-/

Any ideas???   :eyelashes:

Cheers :)

You could ask at electrical factors who sell cables by the metre. Though most domestic cables are supplied on small cardboard bobbins, the heavier armoured cables tend to be on wooden drums.

If you have a local depot for western power distribution (or whomever it is down there) they might have some big ones to dispose of, maybe

Ring a large electrical company or CEF wholesalers they will give them away

was eyeing one up this morning on the back of a flatbed trailer till hubster dragged me away - do they really give them away? are they not reusable?

its not usually worth the cost of returning them to the manufacturer (they're like non standard pallets in that respect) cheaper to make new ones than ship them back...
