All finished :)
« on: April 14, 2014, 08:43:22 am »
That's it all done, as of 10.30pm last night. Our fourth and final ewe had a big single tup lamb to round it all off. So we ended up with four ewe lambs and two tup lambs (there was another one in our crop but it died in utero sadly.

All six lambs (Buttercup, Busby, Bluebell, Bramble, Briar Rose and...<cough>...err...Batman...) seem to be doing well so far! So ends our very first (and our ewes') lambing season!

Well done Smee, it's a relief when it's all over, we won't be starting for another couple of weeks yet  :knit:
registered soay, castlemilk moorit  and north ronaldsay sheep, pygmy goats, steinbacher geese, muscovy ducks, various hens, lots of visiting mallards, a naughty border collie, a puss and a couple of guinea pigs

It certainly is a relief to not have to get up in the night for all those checks any more!  :relief:

I had the vet out this morning, mainly to lay my mind to rest about the ewe with mastitis (who is now fine) who was a bit dischargy-y (apparently she's just cleansing) and the other one who was a bit bloody (she's just cleansing too!). One of this weekend's lambs had a rather watery eye so that's also been checked and she had a turned in eyelid so that's been sorted too. The vet did manage to get stuck in the boggy part of our bottom field (despite my warnings) so we had to call our neighbour to pull him out with a tractor. The car's wheel-spinning did a fair amount of damage to my field so we (jokingly) said we'd send our bill, he replied he'd be sending his too. I hope we don't get charged for the extra time he was here stuck!

Anyway, all lambs are doing well, all mums are doing well, we couldn't have asked for better weather really for outside lambing  :sunshine:

Good luck to all those still lambing
