I fully expected there to be a lull in the laying after the move - although they did only come 5 minutes along the road from their old home - so when my wife phoned to say the hens had all gone back into the house after having some breakfast I thought they had just been spooked by something. When I went out a little later they were still in there and making very gentle noises to each other so I thought perhaps they were about to lay.
I went in to check after lunch ad got a lovely surprise: 3 perfect eggs sitting next to each other. So unless they had 'one in the pipe' so to speak, I think they may have handled the move better than expected. I won't be surprised if they go off for a few days though, but what a lovely little surprise today.
We had them with homemade chips and some thick cut ham from the butcher. Yum yum.
