Hello all,
just wanted to say a big thank you to anyone out there who has ever had anything to do with rehoming ex-batts.
I LOVE MY GIRLS.

I got them last saturday and have had few problems with them. They are now quite happy to go to bed. They are all feeding really well. No eggs today but we have been getting 3 or 4 a day!!!! I think they are all FAR too busy pecking and scratting and enjoying a range of food.
I'm not convinced they know what they are scratting for!!!! However they seem to be really enjoying it.
I was a little disappointed on Sunday. I went to 'The Festival of the Plough' a lovely day out for the family in walking distance. There was a poultry tent with show birds and a stand selling stuff.
There were 2 things that bothered me
1. Some of the chickens had NO water!!! All day!!!
2. The people on the stall were anti-exbatts!!!
I couldn't believe it

I was proud to be offering these lovely creatures even a glimpse of a natural life (had they not survived rehoming!!) The woman said, 'You see people think they are doing them a favour when actually they're not. We have more phonecalls from people with problems than any other group!'

She had people in the crowd agreeing with her!!!! Whats that all about

These poor things have had such a bad time. I was soooo excited. And they were SOOO negative.
I have much more of an issue with those terrible owners that were showing their poor birds and not providing for their most basic of needs!!! She didn't have an issue with these sad individuals!!!
Any way - to happier thoughts - I can't wait to get up in the morning and tend to my lovely ladies. I've also noticed a squirrel is quite keen on the sweetcorn!!!
