Lambing Live - 24th March 2014
« on: March 13, 2014, 07:49:38 am »
Kate is putting on her wellies once again for a brand new series of Lambing Live for BBC TWO. This time she’s heading to Scotland with Adam Henson to test their shepherding skills in the Borders. After a devastating Spring last year and a very wet winter, the life and death drama of lambing is more of a gamble than ever before.

There’s a new farm and a new family as Kate is apprenticed to the Dykes – a sheep farming dynasty spanning three generations. They use all their land, from the heather covered hills to the lush grass of the lowland fields to raise breeding sheep and lambs for the table.

Since delivering her first lamb on the first series in 2010, Kate has discovered that sheep farming is more than just a business – it’s a way of life. This time she’s managed to sell the Dykes two of the Badger face rams she’s bred at home in Wales. The family are trying the rams on their ‘hogs’ – sheep still in their first year that will be first time mums. Any lambs from these sheep are a bonus, but Kate’s boys still have a lot to prove.

Lambing Live will kick off with a special documentary Lambing Live: Farming Families Monday 24 March at 9pm and will then be nightly from Tuesday 25 March – Thursday 27 March at 8pm and Friday 28 March at 9pm.

Really looking forward to this, always enjoy it, and the Dykes' are lovely people and fantastic farmers.  Hoping to see a sneaky highland pony or too as well!
