To be honest, KC, I had a quick look at the add and did think that they probably breed a fair few pups but I may be wrong. When we looked for a lab pup a few months ago, we came across several "registered" breeders that we personally wouldn't have bought from. These were Kennel Club registered but breeding numerous litters each year. We came to the conclusion by talking to the breeders and asking loads of searching questions. We had just lost one pup through illness and wanted to be as careful as we could .... though the pup we lost came from health checked parents

. In the end we went for a breeder who had only the odd litter when he wanted a pup to train and run on. Parents had every check going, went to see them first and even rang a couple of people to find out a bit more about the breeder and yes to check him out I suppose. Also as Doganjo suggested typed in the parents names in the KC register to check that all the tests were there in black and white.
Don't want to get into a debate about registered breeders with anyone on here. Have a look at the KC rules for being a registered breeder. See how many bitches/litters they are allowed to rear, rules on conditions dogs are kept in and you can make up your own mind. As you say you probably can't win so just do some research and satisfy yourself.
Good luck with your search

. I know the pup will get a special home with you. Freddie may not be the only once in a lifetime dog for you.
