Hello all 

 I hope this is ok to post in here. We have not long ago started up our pedigree flock of Charollais and we are trying to spread the world and get our name out there!

We aim to produce high quality, hard animals that last! We operate a strict culling policy and will be selling good quality Rams to smallholders, commercial flocks and other pedigree breeders with good strong boys that don't melt and go on working for years!

Did you get your Charollais from the same place as Tim?

I don't know, mine where from Oxfordshire. I think Tim got his from someone selling up but I could be wrong!

Mine came from Rob Pratt in Hertfordshire---they had been left outside to lamb on there own for the last 5 years and are pretty tough (so far!) I have only culled a couple for being lame and 1 managed to die on me for some reason

When searching for Charollais I couldn't find any other animals that I would say had been farmed commercially (& I looked around a few flocks )---everything else had been lambed inside and fed copious amounts of hard food. I looked at some flocks in the spring when there was 6 inches of clover/grass underfoot and they still had creep feeders on ad lib ! What's that all about?

Bloody stupid!! Just so they make top prices and prompty melt.... They do seem to be hard old girls. I would still be interested in a ram lamb tim if you have any that meet your requirements. Sounds like you have a good flock!

You leave them on the clover and creep to try to distract them from the Marbocyl Tim

Wait and see---they haven't even lambed yet     (they are not and will not be registered with the breed society)

I am pretty sure the ewes aren't registered ---no point , I am producing sheep for work not for show

However I will no doubt have to get rid of the rams at some stage ---they are registered

I'm not producing them to show, I am producing stock to sell on if they are good enough to make and produce  well themselves. If who ever buys them wants to show- I say good luck with the overfeeding and walk away. I don't agree with it.

I would be interested in the rams, I have access to one of theirs ebv's I do believe

That ram lamb Tim sold me is belting - unfortunatley I haven't been able to take my rams out, because where they would go is essentially a marsh and that Charrolais is keeping condition just fine on the tops of the downs where some of the ewes are losing a bit as the grass gets low.
