it snowed for an hour or so here today, started hard with strong winds which was exciting for 10 minutes but it soon tailed off...

almost all melted though, so any hope of sledging is fading fast!!!

4" of snow here now and some minor drifts. Roads not nice, just had a careful journey home from work - had an evening 'do'.

Powercut apparently when I got back too, but fortunately just the main lighting fuse being blown by the garage light. Who knows what's the matter (mice eating the wiring I suspect) but as long as I don't switch it on, the rest of the house seems to be staying lit.  :fc:

Tomorrow forecasting more snow and high winds  :-\

OH went outside to put the recycling out and it was hammering down. His coat was soaked through. An hour later it was snowing hard, an hour after that the sun was out and the snow all melted. This evening it is dry but windy and bitingly cold. When they talked about climate change, I didn't realise they meant all in one day.

Had a couple of 'normal' days here , but very windy here all morning and since about 11 am , have been getting very strong winds again .
Could only just about keep my footing at one time , and that  was between gusts .
The noise was deafening . If you heard it on a film you would say it was over the top .
The rain has stopped atm . Wind eased a tad .
Heading off to north wales now i think , hang on to your hats up there , it is rough !
Take care all .

Just watched a forecast and it's not supposed to hit Pembrokeshire coast until 1pm and then track north.

Been pouring in Powys all morning but now the wind has picked up and it's getting pretty rough. OH just been to make sure everything is well pegged down. West Wales and then North is supposed to be worst and warning updated to Red. We look on the edge of the red band.

Keep safe.

Coming in in waves again . Each wave is getting steadily stronger .
Had a lull for half an hour , but getting hit hard again now . Radio 4 has gone walkabout ? , leccy is flickering !
Just saw a cow get blown off it's feet , it's ok and back up now . Radio 4 is back again .

One of the farm sheds has begun to lose its roof .
Talking to someone in the village who said their neighbours barn went today and a few more are about to go and garden sheds have gone all over .

So will I be better in a small birch wooded caravan park in Aviemore or behind a pub on the shores of Loch Lomond, assuming I can make it there?

I'm trying not to think about it. I've already had to abandon my car two villages away. I was given a lift through the floods by a very kind passing tractor driver. Goodness knows when I'm going to be able to get out to civilisation again.

The storm was scary here in South Somerset earlier. We are ok (although the house is drippy in places) but OH is flying down from Aberdeen and now the storm has moved up there. I will worry until he gets home. I hope they delay the flight until it calms down.
