I picked up a few ducks over the weekend but have one i'm not too sure about.

Its the one in the water, its the green wing flash thats confusing me, I thought it was only Teal who had these.

The picture is quite poor but its definitely a bright green and not a greenish shade of blue

The lighter coloured ones on the left are young Appleyard drakes and the rest are Khaki Campbell, its nearer in size to the Appleyards, a good bit bigger than the KC's and Mallards.

Might just be some sort of cross, it's certainly not something i've some across before so thought i'd ask

I know but Mallards are blue, this one is green and way bigger than a Mallard

Mallards come in several different tones and shades. That duck definitely has a lot of mallard in its make up.

Well yes, as do nearly all domestic ducks 

It's definitely descended from a Mallard but I've never seen a Mallard with green flashes, its a lot bigger, just thought there may be a domesticated breed i wasn't aware of that had the green flashes, maybe its just a Heinz variety with a one off green feathering.

I got it as an "Appleyard" duck but its nothing like other Appleyards i've seen and its smaller than a Rouen

It looks a little like a young Khaki Campbell drake but not easy to tell.

Definitely not a drake though, it lays eggs

My friend has some Cayuga ducks - they're green (but all over) maybe a bit of that ?
It looks lovely whatever it is

Her name is Stephanie and she wishes you'd use it, as for her genetics she says its not her fault, her mums brothers uncles dad is also her cousins mums dads sister, and her half brother...

What colours do they have?

I did a lot of trout and salmon fly tying in my youth, if we needed a green wing it was always Teal and it was quite expensive, i'm sure if a suitable green alternative had been easily available we'd have used those instead.

we've had Aylesburies whose mother / grandmother had been "had" by  a mallard..

the splashes in the wings of their offspring have been blue, green, purple,
all very beautiful but still just hybrids!!

I love about hybrids that each one is different, all are little characters. What do you mean by "just", little blue!!

She's definitely not Appleyard  - not just the wing flashes but overall colouring as well, females are very pale. She also looks small - I know you say she's bigger than the other ducks but Large Silver Appleyards are big birds. It's hard to scale your picture but by the pool size, she just looks small - sort of the size of a six week old SA rather than a full on egg laying girl!

Not sure about the boys for that matter either - maybe they're just a bit washed out in the photo or yet to come into their breeding season plumage but they should be really colourful with green (definitely green!) heads on the back part and a decent burgundy colour chest. How old are they? I presume from last summer?

At least it sounds like she's a good egg layer!
