Hi again, DF,

A wee bit later in the year, give them a couple of weeks to get going. If you're not fussy about the breed, mine are a mix, mainly KC genes. As in they make a good attempt at flying. I can't tempt you with a drake so you can grow your own fertile eggs  ;) ? Otherwise 2 of mine are going to go into a friends' freezer very soon. There's not much meat on any of the European layers breeds though. Aylesburies are better for meat....Let me know.

In fortunately I had 2 drakes before and the terrorised my hens but if you get some fertile eggs I could hatch them in exchange for one or 2 lol I'm not fussy on breed but would have to be girls so I can get eggs I clip my hens wings every 3-4 months just in case of an escape attempt please keep in touch hope to hear soon lol

gosh, were those boys that bored? Give the hens a cockerel and the drakes won't go near them  :roflanim: . Lets get together for some eggs at some point then.  Will pm you when I'll be down your way, probably 1st of March. I don't care what you do with the eggs, they're always the same price, but a petrol contribution would be appreciated (not for all the way, just Largo) :&>

I'm good, thanks - they'll be all yours. We had a brood of 17 ducklings last year, do I need to say more?
£1.70 for half dozen. :&>

CameronS was the first on here to have them - I think it was 4 out of 6, similar with  hatches other folk attempted. I can collect from outdoor nests which would be the safest bet. I had 4 broodies last year and 4 or more ducklings in each nest. Natural hatching is a bit less successful than incubated because they just give up on eggs which would have been fine in an incubator.  :&>

i had great success with eggs from NFD, and bave since gone on to have broods of 19, 15 and 13 from one duck!!

The drakes have provided a lot of good eating and the females are prolific layers/brooders
