hi
for a start you really need a pair so they arent lonely - its also part of the recommendations by defra etc that they have company of their own species.
also check the max weight limit of your abattoir as a year old pig may be over their limit. we kept our first pigs for a year as we never realised they were supposed to sent away at 6-7 mths.

Erm, I think you should have a read back through the pig section - everything you need to know is covered there
You'll need to get at least 2 pigs, one on it's own will be lonely & miserable.
You'll need good stock fencing (posts 6 ft apart) with either a strand of barb wire or electric fencing tape along the bottom to stop them pushing under.
They'll need a shelter to sleep in, this should be draft free and dry but have some ventilation in it.
Most big breeds are ready to go to slaughter around 6 months, check with your local abattoir what their upper weight limit is and think about how you'll get them there when the time comes before collecting your weaners.
And you'll need a CPH number for the land where the pigs will be kept before they'll be able to move to you. Your local SGRPID office will help you with this.
