I think the public would be genuinely shocked if they knew just how much money that they donated to charity was wasted. I have a friend who works in the Airline industry and they say that one of the biggest users of Business Class is Aid Workers!!!!

I used to work for the RSPCA and left in disgust due to whole manner of issues including the welfare of some of the animals in its care!!

However, if they publicise this well and reward the supermarkets who take animal welfare seriously which in turn will hopefully encourgage other supermarkets to do the same then it can't all be bad.

Yes the RSPCA have messed up in many areas - over stretching themselves, not following up their Freedom Food scheme, acting as prosecuter too often instead of educator and helper.  Taking 2 minutes of your time to vote for an award that may help to promote animal welfare is not endorsing the RSPCA as a whole, but just this award.

£100 million in donations is hardly overstretching yourself, more like gross mismanagement.....and no doubt unlimited spending Visa cards for the top elite........

Yes I agree with that amount of money they could do so much more.

The RSPCA person who started this thread seems to be staying very quiet! ;D

I don't think he was an RSPCA employee but a consultant / contractor working for them.

Isn't it sad how let down we feel by government, charities and other institutions? Maybe they always let us down but we didn't know about it. Maybe ignorance is bliss.

Hi all,

thank you so much to those of you that have voted. There has certainly been some debate here, and while it is unfortunate that many people here feel negatively, I think the spirit and logic of the campaign really is promoting higher animal welfare.

Thank you again for your support and opinions. That is after all what a forum is for!

Stefan, on behalf of RSPCA
