sheep scanner due soon
« on: December 18, 2013, 11:20:35 am »
Well the sheep scanner is due in the next couple of hours and for some reason I'm really nervous for the girls. Maybe it's because I don't know this scanner but he's highly recommended or maybe it's because I'm on my own, hubby hiding in a nice warm office some where? The sheep scanner was laughing at me yesterday when I let slip we'd been practicing their penning routine all week (I didn't want them to misbehave in front of him  ::)) You just know that one furry little monster will escape or refuse to be penned. I have nuts, buckets and my troughs at the ready. List of the sheep, sharpened pencil and marker spray at hand... wish me luck  :excited:

Good luck we had ours done yesterday, in the sunshine lucky us, 13 singles, 21 twins and 2 triplets, so theres a couple for the bottle if it comes to pass.

The scanner person was lovely (& helpful  ;D). The girls have done well; 8 twins, 8 singles & 1 barren (she was a little poor when she came to us so not too surprised at the empty ewe, think a year off will do her good & can get her in better shape for next year). I'm pleased, now just need to concentrate on ensuring the rest of their pregnancies go smoothly and getting those lambs out safe & well  :excited:

congrats to your sheepies fertility wellies. One of the great days of the sheep year scanning day, as long as it goes well. you mentioned two for the bottle, do you routinly take a lamb off with triplets? is it a breed thing or what? am intrested cos i have occasional triples and they seem ok with mum, less work for me, ever think of putting them onto one of the singles if the timing works? anyhoo best of luck with lambing and again congrats on a good result/day
