South Wales Drying Up!!
« on: December 10, 2013, 11:07:19 am »
Hi
Am sure this is a mistake to post this  :fc:  .... but I am amazed at how dry it has become here .... the streams are as dry as they were in July with one dried up altogether.

So warm too ........ just planted some onions and broad beans. ..... fushias , honeysuckle and roses still flowering.

Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

I hope this won't jinx it! My strawberrys have still got flowers on although everything else is just starting to look a bit winter worn now but I agree, so far, by us it seems to be quite mild

Same here - I have strawberries still flowering.
I have been digging over the weekend and the soil is dry-ish and easy enough to rake.  That shouldnt happen in December.
Planted out Garlic and last minute onions too.

Cue many days of rain and snow.
If you cant beat 'em then at least bugger 'em about a bit.

Dry here too. We had a lot of snow 2 weeks ago and after that thawed the lads down the road drained our very large lake to gather up the carp. They broke the overnight ice then netted the fish. The sluice gates are closed but the stream feeding the lake is dry. I took the dog for a walk over the exposed sand and threw any mussels I found into what water is left of the lake.
I have been outside in a T shirt all day -  :sunshine: :sunshine: :sunshine: :sunshine: :sunshine: :sunshine: for each of the next 6 days so not too much chance of the lake filling up.

Ken if we can move in snow then I'm sure you can manage a monsoon!!   So is tomorrow THE DAY?

Shhh - I haven't finished laying the concrete in the washed out ford yet - then going to need a few more days of dry for it to set  :fc: ...
