We seem to have escaped it here in the South east of Scotland, apart from getting a bit windy when I was out riding yesterday around midday. Just wish it would get light now as I want to get out to feed the animals.

Really bad gusting winds here on the Isle of Lewis.

Reckon it's at least a force 11 as it seems stronger than yesterday.  A one tonne gravel bag took off from our yard earlier and I didn't dare try to save it. If the wind had caught it at the same time it would have taken me too.
If you're in Orkney it should be passing you about now!!!

I think yesterday was worse than today, certainly for the wind. We also had an amazing storm last night, thunder and lightning, power went off (only for a few mins), enormous hailstones....

No damage as far as I am aware- I'm holding off on putting up some of the Xmas lights though just because of the wind.

Worse here today than yesterday. Mainly cos of the hail at the same time as the peak winds.  :gloomy:

However after bringing the horses in and quickly exercising the 4 dogs, I have been listening to Evensong on R3 and making choc dipped crystallised orange peel, which is very calming, and the fires are lit.

L&M
choc dipped crystallised orange peel
I'd battle through a storm for some of that!

It's settled down here now and seems to tail off for several days. Gusts in the 30's and 40's then Late Tuesday/early Weds gusting into the 50's and 60's again.
Ach...nooo, really it's like this all week! Just stay in and make tasty treats and sit by the fires until Christmas eve!!!
Stay safe

It was wild here last night and still pretty windy today. I managed to get out to the car between gusts. I do find it scary when it's windy as I can go over so easily. I don't think we've had any damage but I noticed a slate on my neighbour's lawn this morning. Must check whether or not my OH has told her. I asked him to give her a ring (she always keeps me for talking for ages).

I heard that weather warning too......I would love some snow tyres but at the moment cannot afford them.....looks like more trees will be down as there are so many leaning around the area!  I had a few big puddles to drive through yesterday but they did clean my car steps of the mud!!

Have winter tyres for the wifes wee estate and the Jeep has all-seasons on it. The Winters are a defo benefit if ever you can save up for a set. I find they assist, especially, braking in poor/snowy weather.

Weathers looking to be gusting 50's and 60's mph Tuesday 18:00 to around 03:00 Weds.
Settles through the day a bit then same again 18:00 Weds gusting upto 70mph until around 9am Thursday morning.
Then Friday 18:00 into Saturday am similar again to Tues-Weds.

Snow forecast for Thurs and Sunday + Monday next week at the mo.
Not much of a week to look forwards too actually!

Ho Hum.....best check the heating oil level!!

Keep smilin'

yessssss.......power back on again  18,000 homes powerless after todays lightning strike and here's me trying to pluck turkeys in the dark
hail the size of frozen peas earlier! Luckily filled my oil tank last week (after letting it run dry doh!) thankfully between storms. weather outlook not good for rest of the week.....oh bring back crispy frosty mornings, breaking the ice on the water troughs etc instead of sliding around in mud and having to retrieve my feed buckets from half way down the croft  >:(
oh and I have winter tyres all year round, we don't get enough consistent nice weather to justify changing them in the 'summer'..... :innocent:

I had  a funny image if you plucking in he dark, when it's dim, I find it almost better to close my eyes, seem to concentrate better. can you get sort of snow slippers?  It's not too bad for me as I do not have to drive, but I fine ice nasty on the bends.......defiantly no money to spare, but  maybe next year....have a good day
