Hi John
Welcome to the forum
What part of the country are you in.  There's a few of us in Central Scotland.   I have four dogs and work one of them.  I have ducks and chickens and a cat and have had a go at growing veg this year for the first time - not a lot of success as yet.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Hello and welcome

Bushcraft - tell us more.

Joe my partner likes shooting, and we have two dogs but not for hunting -  a silly but adorable cavalier king charles spaniel called Ruby, who thinks she is a human - and a daft but gorgeous Rottweiler puppy whos as big as a calf.

We used to breed Golden Retrievers - my favourites, until our male bit our daughter quite badly when she was four, he loved hunting.
Apparently he was bred too pure and suffered rage syndrome, and had to go.  His Father was in the Hall of fame in the Golden retriever handbook, sad to have to have him put to sleep but the only answer at the time.

I sold all my girls.

Would like to breed dogs again, not had any success with the King Charles, but might consider Rottweiler breeding next year, when I have more time.

Look forward to chatting with you - where dod you learn the bush craft?

Julie, Joe and Tara

Hello al Bushcraft is the ability to live outside using natural resources comfortably. This can involve camping, tracking, finding cooking and eating wild food . Its good fun and  to a certain degree can be done by anybody. I’ve learned most of from books and a always  being in the great outdoors but I’m still learning and always will be. atb bedrock      :farmer:

My late husband did this every time he went hill walking and climbing.  Usually famished when he got home though ;)

Hello, i too am in central Scotland and have several chickens and two Ducks, I would love to train up my Labs and go shooting with them as they are from good gundog stock, I am very near to several other hero members (nothing Else to do ;)!!!) I love the idea of utilising what is around, I do it all the time but not from the "bush" :D I worked in a School where young men had been expelled from other Schools and when they put Bush Craft on the leasure activities they all very very well behaved and loved it!! I did too ;D ;D

thought the video of the railroad spike to knife was excellent . It showed the work involved very well . Maybe not very back to basics though ...lol ... too many electric gadgets for basics ...but still very good.
Looks like a very interesting site. I have one of Ray Mears books 'The Survival Handbook ' , old habits die hard , I like reading about basic survival more than I like doing it these days ..lol...(too many broken bones !!) .

cheers
