Phone question - SD card not recognised
« on: December 01, 2013, 06:32:14 pm »
Anyone able to help?

I have an HTC Desire - great phone with storage of a mini card - SD.  For some reason my PC no longer opens it when connected by the phone cable, and neither does the phone as I can't access recordings that I want.  I have a card reader but haven't tried that yet. Can micro sd cards just die?  Or is it the settings on my phone that somehow I've changed (don't remember doing that at any time though)
Help!
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Hi,
I'm not very good with tech things, but the standard size SD card has a little switch thing on the side of it, to lock it, (don't know if the smaller ones have that on them or not), if it is in the lock position it dosen't seem to work correctly.
If that isn't the answer, I hope you get it sorted soon, as it is soooo annoying to think you might have lost the stuff that was on it.
Regards

Thanks, Sue.  I'll have a look at that in the morning but i don't know how it could have got switched off because you have to take the back off an HTC to get at the micro card.

it might just be locked (but that doen't happen by itself, normally) with the switch mentioned but sadly they can die! We've been advised to put stuff onto a computer or cloud on a regular basis to avoid that happening. Good luck, Annie  :&>
