using a borehole
« on: November 17, 2013, 09:02:32 pm »
Hi, new to the forum,
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to run a water supply from my nieghbour's borehole (with his permission of course). How easy would it be, cost etc?
Thanks in advance

I'm not really familiar with boreholes but I assume there is a pump down there and at some stage the water comes out of a pipe and into his property - no reason you can't T off this pipe, although if it's for drinking water (domestic supply) you will have to speak to your supply company

I have a building p[lot with outline planning permission in Aberdeenshire which I am trying to sell, the last remaining piece of our wee croft after building my house across the lane from the plot.  The intention was to use the prolific well (tapped into a stream fortunately) but planning have insisted that I put in a separate pump and pipes to the plot rather than take the water from the outlet that we had put in when I built the house.

However I know that other properties have shared wells (or boreholes if it's done that way).  I believe that they usually require a different pump and that the original property's pump is sited lower than the additional one to ensure the first property is left with water if there is a shortage.

thanks folks, apparently pretty easy, t off his pipe, and meter it on my plot. Am sure it can't be as simple as that but....we'll soon find out
