The piece Ruth Goodman did in this week's Radio Times, on what life was like then, made the interesting point that people slept for far longer and when she did the series she found herself very sleepy by about 6.30 p.m.  Recent research suggests that stress-related problems such as depression may be triggered by lack of sleep as we now live in a well-lit environment far into the evening.

Ooh....Wish there was a BBC2 plus one as I'll still be at choir then. (don't have I player on TV and it's too small on tablet to be enjoyable).

But there's the last ever Poirot on at the same time  :tired:  Which one is most likely to be repeated?

Oh bugger !
I enjoy those programmes . I have 'tales from the green valley ' and the victorian one on dvd . No tv signal now so will have to wait till it appears on dvd .
The original series 'tftgv' was set in the 17 th century , so will be similar in method i would think ?
I have Michael Woods series ' in search of Shakespear' on dvd , and just today took delivery of his book of the same name , both from 2003 .
The programme sets a fantastic image of the tudor times , social , polítical and religious , and of the ' usual suspects' in the Shakespeare story .

To be honest rusty, you might as well just put a mirror up, it's probably just like your place, especially if you put your armour on  :-J

Haha yes!
TFTGV was by far my fave one, but that was partly as the narrator was a different one and very good voice, also liked the older chap on it.

Have high hopes for this one!

Thanks for posting this, because I hardly ever watch telly, I never see the adverts for the good stuff, will be recording this (it is past my bedtime!)

It was on at the same time as poirot and sleepy hollow which were recording so I couldn't watch any other telly so I missed it! Hopefully I'll catch a repeat, if not, poirot finished this week ( :gloomy:) so I'll start watching tudor farm next week.

I have really enjoyed their other series

I love all these programs, I particularly enjoy all the textile bits. In Victorian Farm Ruth had a treadle sewing machine just like mine! I'm out too much in the evening to watch much telly (am Mummy taxi) but I will watch this on I-player.

I enjoyed it, it was very interesting to see how the men 'sew' themselves into their clothing
Life is like a bowl of cherries, mostly yummy but some dodgy bits
