Wine flu!!
« on: August 20, 2009, 08:58:50 am »
A friend of mine was at a dinner party last night, where she and other guests enjoyed copious amounts of alcohol. She awoke this morning not feeling so hot, suffering from what could be described as flu-like symptoms; headache, nausea, chills, sore eyes etc.

From the results of some initial testing, she unfortunately tested positive for what experts are now calling Wine Flu .

This debilitating condition is very serious and it appears this is not an isolated case.
Reports are flooding in from others diagnosed with Wine Flu.

To anyone that starts to exhibit the aforementioned tell-tale signs, experts are recommending a cup of tea and a bit of a lie down .

However, should your condition worsen, you should immediately hire DVDs and take some Nurofen

[Nurofen seems to be the only drug available that has been proven to help combat this unusual type of flu].

Others are reporting a McDonald's SuperSize Meal with Nuggets followed with a gansy load of chocolate and crisps. This remedy also seems to do the trick also

Wine Flu does not need to be life threatening, and if treated early can be eradicated within a 24-48 hour period.

If not, then further application of the original liquid in similar quantities to the original dose has been shown to do the trick.

Tomato soup (Heinz) is the best cure.

OMG is that what I have - I must have caught it from my friend last night when she said pop round for a chat.  By the way, the Tomato Soup idea has advanced the symptoms and also caused me to go a little green.  Not sure I will survive the day at work - funnily enough I do not appear to be getting any sympathy ::)

I must have the same strain of wine flu as you Sandy - Weekends - Supermarkets - Nasty - but another glass the next day, at around lunchtime with a bit of toast usually fixes the headache ;D ;D ;D

What about a nice greasy fry up!!! followed by several cups of strong coffee and loads of sweets, then lay on the sofa wrap yourself in the duvet and watch something really dull NOT a war or action film, they will hurt your ears and eyes...good luck on your recovery!

Yes, Kerrygirl, that was the method I learned from an Irish girl in my youth! Just start straight with  what you finished before you succumbed to unconsciousness the night before. During the morning in question we just tried what was left in the bottles as we couldn't remember  ::) ;D I was very young (not under age though)! Now there is not that much choice the next morning and hardly any leftovers  ;)

My last severe bout of that was brought on by Tetleys and not the tea, does anyone find this vile flu takes longer to get rid of as you get older, in my youth it used to last only till opening time, fresh medicine taken and instant cure, now i cant face opening time till the next day, let alone another dose of medicine !!!

Now on occasion I like a Whisky but sometimes the water is far too strong and that gives me symptons like wine flu, I find it best to leave out the water, although I sometimesoften say strange things too, not sure why? has anyone else had that odd side effect?

unfortunately yes, my wife refers to it as talking shite and it must be bedtime, and no more amber nectar.
