what age to vasectomise?
« on: November 12, 2013, 08:55:45 am »
Hi

What age can you have a ram lamb done to use as teaser next yr?
Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

I'm pretty sure once they have developed after a few months they can be done (I may be wrong)

You can have a lamb castrated by the vet at any age so I would think once there male parts are big enough but you need to plan ahead because they need a few months away from ewes as they can still have sperm on board!

I usually do them in the new year when it's cold enough to ensure that there is little risk of fly problems and I have the time

Once they are done I let them rest for a few months then put them with a few cull ewes in late summer so that they can get rid of any live ammunition

I am going to get a few more done this year if anyone wants one? Wool shedding so easy maintenance

At least 6 months according to my vets - they need to have properly matured before the Op.
Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again !!
