Urgent Transport help needed
« on: November 07, 2013, 08:56:56 am »
We have recently rescued a badly treated/neglected Lurcher dog with the intentions of finding him a good home.
A fantastic home has come up for him but its in Orkney.
Can anyone help with transporting him up to Aberdeen/Fetterangus/ Dundee/Peterhead or any of the surrounding areas. The new owners are coming over to the mainland on Thursday the 14th November until Saturday the 16th November and can meet up any time from 7am on the 14th.
She is happy to pay the fuel costs.
We are in Northumberland NE47 area but can meet up with anyone who can help
The dog is a 3 1/2 yr old Male, very friendly with all ages and 200% with all livestock and about the size of a large Whippet

We're near Dundee and would be happy to help - I don't mind going south a bit and north a bit. I can't overnight him though because we've got my parents-in-laws dog as well as our own two - unless he can sleep in an outbuilding.

The new owner is coming over from Orkney to fetterangus and can drive so far to meet up, just cant drive right down.
We can drive about an hour and a half to meet up with someone at this end.
If anyone can do any part of the journey we could always set up a  car train to get him all of the way up.
doing it in the one day would be best but he has only known sleeping in an outbuilding and not even having any bedding  :(
He is sleeping in the stables here on a night and loose during the day when we are out there.

It's 100 miles from Fetterangus to here. I'd be quite happy to either go north 50 miles and meet the new owners half way or come south 50 miles to meet someone coming up from the south.

Thanks for the kind Offers of help. I have no idea on the different parts of Scotland.
I am Guessing that by the posts we would need to sort out the 110 miles up too  Lesmahogow/Lanark to meet Doganjo then the 100 miles from Rosemary up to Fetterangus ?

Just had a call from the new owner and the ferry is fully booked for next week so they are having to come over on the Catamaran ferry from Orkney to Inverness on Monday  :o
they will then drive down to Fetterangus adding another 100 miles onto the journey
They can now do this on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week if anyone can help as they have to get the ferry back on Thursday

Is Fetterangus important? Inverness to Fetterangus is more across than down.If you look at the map, they are going along the Moray coast and I'm going up the east coast to Fetterangus.

It's 130 miles from Inverness to Dundee; Braemar is half way and I could meet them there.

I'm happy to help, just tell me what you want me to do.

I don't understand going to Fetterangus either.  Inverness to Perth is just over two hours..  Inverness to fetterangus is 2 and three quarter hours. Look at Google Maps for distances and times.

Sorry didn't realize that I had not explained.  They used to live in fetterangus they now live in Orkney. The house in fetterangus is empty so they have to go there to check it's ok and will be staying there for the 3 nights that they are over
She is limited to when and how long she can be away as she is a woman priest

A friend of ours (doganjo and I) does dog boarding in Fife. Do you want me to see if she can board him until next week?
