We used round tags (on ANs) and never had a problem with infection.  everything was liberally soaked in surgical spirits - pliers, tag, ear - inside and out, hands!  Then used a teatree spray round the area for a few days.

Could be different with A.N's whose ears hang anyway.Just in my experience that the first goat I ever saw with Ear Tags (Before Ear tags,she came from a sheep farmer originally) had a ripped ear and last year I bought in a few and they all had round tags which made a horrible mess of their ears

Hiya. I had to tag my girls last year, nd the younger girls ears are OK, her mom's heal(ish) then weep, heal(ish) then weep...Nd I haven't done it yet but how easy are they to remove?

Haven't done it myself but I suppose if you can get hold of a pair of hoof nippers like they use on horses it would be easier to get at the right angle to nip them through
